Shop / sherwood rabbit pellets
Product Description:
Tip 1: Encourage your pet rabbit to consume more hay and drink more water by reducing the amount of other food items. Feed less salads, greens, veggies, fruits, and grains or soy found in most pellets and treats. These food items are sweeter than hay and can contribute to digestive health problems. When your rabbit eats more dry hay, they will drink more water, which is essential for better urinary health.
Tip 2: Monitor for warning signs of digestive upset (risk of stasis). Digestive health, gastrointestinal tract motility, energy, and appetite are closely related. If one declines, the others will also decline. Watch out for malformed poops, un-eaten cecotropes, low energy, less activity than normal, and a poor appetite, such as refusing a favorite treat.
Tip 3: Feeding greens may increase signs of digestive upset. Our own testing has shown that even a small amount of greens given to a 6-pound rabbit can cause these signs of digestive upset within a few days, and it takes over a week of not feeding any greens to resolve the issue.
Tip 4: If hay is the first ingredient, is the formula mostly hay? No! Excess grain and soy are not a natural part of your rabbit's diet and will increase the signs of digestive upset. Grain and soy, in multiple forms, are often hidden in pellets that have hay as the first ingredient, but these pellets are usually less than 35% hay.
Tip 5: Feed real hay and no substitutes! Sherwood's formulas contain real hay and do not use low-cost ingredients, like soybean hulls or oat hulls, as alternatives to using real hay. Our hay-based formulas are grain-free and soy-free, and they are formulated by a PhD Molecular Biologist to provide complete and balanced nutrition for a healthy and active lifestyle.
Nourish your pet's best life with the Sherwood Pet Health diet plan. It also contains high-fiber prebiotics, including short and long-strand fibers for optimal digestive and immune health.
